George Asproukos Osteopath

Dr George Asproukos is an osteopath with over 20 years of clinical experience, dedicated to helping patients achieve optimal health and well-being.

He earned his Bachelor of Applied Science 2002 and a Masters of Osteopathy from Western Sydney University in 2004.

 
He adopts an integrative, patient-centred approach to treatment, combining techniques such as spinal manipulation, functional osteopathy, exercise rehabilitation, dry needling, massage therapy and shockwave.
 
His expertise encompasses a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, including occupational overuse syndromes and complex sports injuries across disciplines like football, cycling, strength training, running, tennis, and golf.

Beyond his clinical practice, he has lectured at Endeavour College, teaching subjects like anatomy, clinical reasoning, myotherapy, mobilisation, and providing clinical supervision.

A strong advocate for lifelong learning, George regularly attends professional development seminars, conferences, and workshops to stay current with evidence-based practices.

Osteopathy is best described as musculoskeletal practitioners who will conduct a manual examination including neuro-orthopaedic examination, diagnose, and treatment for musculoskeletal complaints.

Osteopaths use gentle, hands on, effective techniques such as stretching, joint mobilisation, massage, exercise prescription and manipulation to provide pain relief.

 

They also skilfully address the significant physical issues and dysfunction in your body that relate to your complaint.

Frequently asked questions

How long will my Osteopathic appointment take?  

Initial and standard consultations are 30min for singular region cases

Double initial and double standard consultation are 1 hour duration, these are designed for more complex and multiple regions

Can I claim Osteopathy on my health fund?

Yes, most if not all health funds cover Osteopathy. Check with your healthcare provider

​​

Do I need to wear specific clothing to my appointment? We prefer patients to wear comfortable loose fitting clothes. 

​

Is there parking nearby? Yes, metered parking on the street, and 2 hour free parking available at Westfield Shopping centre on Grafton St.

Where’s the nearest bus stop? Grafton St and Oxford St

How many sessions will I need with the Osteopath?

General musculoskeletal injuries, mostly resolve between 3 to 4 visits.  However chronic and complicated cases may need more consideration requiring up to 8 visits.

Do I need a referral to see an Osteopath?

No, you do not require a referral to see an Osteopath. 

​

I was injured at work.  Do you accept Workers Comp Claims?

Yes, osteopaths are registered by AHPRA and approved by SIRA to provide treatment under the NSW workers’ compensation system. 

​

Is Osteopathy covered by Medicare?

Yes. There are specific criteria you have to discuss with your GP to see if you are eligible under the Chronic Disease Management plan.

Do I need an x-ray?

You do not require an x-ray or investigations such as a CT scan, MRI, and or ultrasound unless the osteopath deems it necessary for the diagnosis of a musculoskeletal injury.

Dry needling? What is it?   

Dry needling practitioners insert acupuncture-style needles into myofascial trigger points in the body. Dry Needling is a Western medicine approach to releasing tight muscular bands and is more targeted at specific muscle-tendon junctions in certain areas.​
